The Final Post

The last day in Utah! Things have been so fast paced that even out of 13 people we have rarely found time to even think about writing a daily blog.

On wednesday we took some time to visit the lake and recharge as a team. Some went swimming and others got frisbees stuck in trees, and my shoes…. and Tim. We spent time sharing stories and building each other up. After lunch we helped Russ and his radio ministry out by making much needed phone calls and getting feedback from previous missionaries and surveys taken. Rob Klein took his survey VERY seriously ;). (Thomas also got a creepy voicemail. Ask him!) After making breakfast for dinner, WOOT!, we got invited to Weber State for some night games and activities like Capture the Flag.

On Thursday we went to a local elementary school and helped entertain kids through outdoor games and a Noah’s Ark craft (Stephanie you rock!!). Ray told the story of Noah and we all had a blast acting like animals while Jeremy, Thomas and Douglas helped organize their library and math tablets. Afterwards we held a free car wash for the locals, simply to serve the community, get to meet people in the area and share the Gospel. Peter did NOT stop dancing and Cody’s attempt at getting attention by washing me was an epic fail. (Utonians definitely don’t appreciate blindingly white guys). We got the full Cracker Barrel experience, except me supposedly, and followed Rob the street preacher to watch him in his element. (mormoninfo.org to learn more about his ministry).

Our final day was filled again the breath taking gardens of temple square. We walked around engaging LDS missionaries in healthy discussions, made new friends and experienced more of the Mormon Museums and history displays. We had time to debrief and give the rest of the group a full picture of what we saw during the trip. Everyone was unique in their strengths and contributions to the trip; If one person had not been able to come, things would have ended drastically different than they have.

The smell of sweat lingers in the air as we pack up for the trip home. We will be leaving behind a freshly raked lawn and beautifully laid gravel, just a small service paid to a man and his righteous ministry. Some of our new LDS friends have come to say their goodbyes and wish us a safe journey home. I believe I can speak for the entire team here when I say that we will be mourning our departure because of this awesome group of friends we have made.

Oh, and we’re finishing the night off with AdventureTime!
